CORDAE

Hip Hop Artist

Cordae is a rapper, singer, and songwriter who hails from Maryland. His debut studio album, The Lost Boy, was released in 2019 to wide acclaim; it received two Grammy nominations for Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song. As a devoted student of past schools of hip hop, it is central to Cordae’s artistic mission is to be a bridge between the musical generations. Cordae is also devoted to activism—he rapped to the crowd at a Black Lives Matter protest in 2016, was arrested at a Breonna Taylor (RIP) protest in 2020, and has openly rocked a “Defund The Police” t-shirt.

As someone who struggles with survivor’s guilt, Cordae is profoundly committed to sharing the wealth of knowledge and experience he’s gleaned in the course of his world travels with his community in order to uplift and empower them. As a developing leader, he hopes to help raise another class of leaders.
